STEP 1: Let's make sure the Chrome browser is accessible under the 'Always' schedule, don't worry we can change this back later! This permission is needed to link an account to the Google Play store. If Chrome is already visible on your homepage (like in the image below), move on to "STEP 2".
STEP 1A: On the homepage, find and tap "Settings".
STEP 1B: Tap "Apps & Schedules".
STEP 1C: Enter your SafetyMode parent password.
STEP 1D: If the "Chrome" app is under the 'Always' available schedule, move onto STEP 2.
STEP 1E: If "Chrome", is under the "Never" schedule, please drag and drop it into the "Always" schedule.
STEP 2: Now let's check your own google account is not linked to the play store. We'll need to remove your account to allow your child's account to be added to the Play store.
STEP 2A: Under Settings, go to Android Settings and then Accounts.
STEP 2B: Check if your email is visible under 'Accounts for Owner'?
If yes, please click on this account and continue to "Step 2C" to remove it.
If there is no account here, please continue to "STEP 3".
STEP 2C: Tap "Remove account". After this is completed, you should no longer see any accounts under "Accounts for Owner".
STEP 3: Open the Google Play store.
Under Settings, go to "Apps & Schedules", enter your SafetyMode parent password and press "Open Google Play".
STEP 4: Sign in to your child's google account on the Google Play store.
Press "Sign in" and enter your child's google account details.
STEP 5: Verify your child's google account.
STEP 5A: You may be asked to verify that it's you signing into your child's account. Please follow the on-screen instructions to verify their account (these steps may vary depending on your 2FA settings).
STEP 5B: Confirm Google services settings as you wish.
STEP 6: Check your child's Google account is linked to the Google Play store.
STEP 6A: You may need to re-open the google play store, please follow step 3 to do this.
STEP 6B: Click on the account on the right hand corner of the screen. If your child's email is visible here you've successfully linked your Child's Google account.
STEP 7: (Optional) Moving "Chome" back to "Never".
Earlier in this guide, we moved the Chrome app from the "Never" to "Always" app schedule.
