How to enable the permissions required for SafetyMode

A guide to enabling the permissions required for SafetyMode. These permissions are necessary for SafetyMode to supervise your child's activity.

Please note: the above video is out of date. An up to date tutorial will be uploaded soon.

Please note that the steps below are performed on the Nothing 3(a)Lite. Android settings may slightly differ on other devices.

STEP 1: Ensure your phone is connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data.

STEP 2: Tick the box to accept the terms and conditions.

These permissions can be reviewed at safetymode.com/terms-and-conditions.

Then, select "This is my child's phone".

STEP 3A: Press "Set up anti-addiction design" to begin.

STEP 3B: If you do not have 3-button navigation already enabled, tap "Continue", then tap "Open settings to enable", then tap "3-button navigation".

It is already enabled, tap "I have already enabled this" and move on to STEP 3C.

STEP 3C: Tap "Continue" on the "Turn on simple home screen" page, then tap "Open settings to enable", then tap "SafetyMode".

STEP 4A: To set up SafetyMode's content filters, tap "Set up safer content", then tap "Continue", then tap "Open settings to enable".

Next, tap "START SafetyMode AI", then tap the toggle to the right of the text saying "Use START SafetyMode AI - Tap and switch one", then tap "Allow".

STEP 4B: To allow SafetyMode's filters to block harmful content, tap "Continue" on the "Allow overlay permission" screen, then turn on the toggle next to the text saying "Allow display over other apps".

STEP 5: To allow SafetyMode to block unsuitable websites, tap "Set up safer web browsing", then tap "Continue".

Next, tap "Open settings to enable", then tap "OK".

STEP 6A: To set up app restrictions and scheduling, tap "Set up safer apps & schedules", then tap "Continue".

Next, scroll down and tap "SafetyMode", then toggle the app usage data permission to on.

STEP 6B: Tap "Continue" on the "Silence restricted apps" screen, then scroll and tap "SafetyMode".

Next, tap "Allow notification access", then "Allow", then tap the back arrow.

STEP 7: To set up safer contacts, tap "Set up safer contacts", then tap "Continue".

Next, tap "Allow" to allow SafetyMode to access the phone's contacts, then tap "Continue".

Finally, tap "Allow", then tap "Continue".

Well done! You've now completed the SafetyMode permissions set-up!
